An archive worker encounters an oil refinery on the opposite shore, its lights mistaken for a Manhattan skyline.
Fatal Manhattan begins with a nightly ritual in Değirmendere, looking across the water towards the Tüpraş refinery. The industrial landscape becomes the starting point for a speculative archive of pollution, desire and technological waste.
Through moving image, sound, installation and lecture-performance, the project follows a Don Quixotean archive worker across the entanglements of industrial production and drone warfare. The landscape is read as a record of the Capitalocene, where distant infrastructures and everyday perception become inseparable.
